About The Position

The Shipping Technician ensures proper product type is delivered to customers in a safe, clean, and professional manner. Performs various tasks associated with the operation of feeding, weighing, bulk loading and transporting cement products.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent or 1-3 years of equivalent experience.
  • Must be able to complete paperwork
  • Good communication skills
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators.
  • Subject to applicable law, employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic knowledge of computers, Microsoft programs, and SAP is preferred.
  • High Mechanical aptitude and ability.
  • Knowledge of office equipment.
  • Pleasant and positive attitude working with co-workers, customers, and the public.
  • Physical ability to work at heights, confined-enclosed areas, and perform unloading functions.
  • Knowledge of cement, the construction industry, and integrated computer systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Practices and promotes safety by assessing risks before starting tasks, performing only authorized activities, and utilizing appropriate PPE.
  • Exercises and encourages core values, including developing self and coaching others through inspiration and empowerment.
  • Follows all safety procedures, checks for safety hazards, and takes corrective action to eliminate hazards.
  • Operates and monitors all terminal equipment, loads outgoing trucks and rail cars, and operates forklift, rail car mover, and other light industrial equipment.
  • Maintains the cleanliness, organization, and standardization of shipping areas, verifying the accuracy of paperwork for outgoing shipments.
  • Interprets and understands readings on equipment instrumentation panels, ensuring product quality and quantity within the assigned area.
  • Inspects equipment assigned each shift in accordance with plant policy and assists with preventive maintenance and repairs.
  • Provides excellent customer service when dealing with external customers (carriers) on a daily basis.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, including but not limited to assisting other departments with ad hoc assignments, such as maintenance during kiln outages.
