About The Position

This role is for a full-time Shipping Team Member working Monday-Friday from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm. The position is classified as Non-Exempt and is considered a Safety Sensitive Position. The team member will assist the Team Lead and Operations Manager in all functions of production to reach company-defined objectives, responsible for accomplishing daily production goals, and moving to production areas as needed based on daily demand and staffing needs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Mechanically inclined.
  • Experience running machinery is a plus but not required.
  • Excellent communication ability to follow through on requests for information and select appropriate responses.
  • Good listening skills, paying attention to others’ communications to ensure understanding.
  • Seeking input and showing a genuine interest in others’ opinions.

  • A minimum of two years of manufacturing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Run all primary equipment in the department.
  • Identify methods to reduce scrap and improve efficiencies.
  • Use saws to accurately cut product per drawing requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with manager and other employees regarding problems, schedule, late orders, shortages, inspection, and completion of items.
  • Work closely with other production departments to ensure daily material needs are met.
  • Pack all units as they are assembled per production schedule.
  • Print and label units with correct part number.
  • Scan off jobs per company-defined process.
  • Oversee final inspection of units to ensure they meet company-defined requirements.
  • Manage end of day process, small package process, and Amazon process.
  • Train new shipping employees to current/updated standards.
  • Problem-solve to better utilize current floor space.
  • Increase output, reduce freight damage, and improve inventory.
  • Fill-in where needed when short-staffed.
  • Proactively address system/inventory related issues.
  • Operate drills and punch presses.
  • Read and review Navision production reports, product structures, and drawings.
  • Follow company policies: GMi Core Values, 6 “S”, and Safety/Quality procedures and standards.
  • Manage and drive cross-training initiatives in keeping with company goals.
  • Maintain balanced production flow (efficiencies within department).
  • Proactively address production/personnel issues and seek positive resolution.
  • Maintain clean workstations throughout operations.
  • Use and understand measuring devices.
  • Work company assigned hours for the position and additional hours if needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
