About The Position

The Shipping Supervisor is responsible for leading daily shipping operations across both the Cabinet Dock and Door Dock to ensure all customer deliveries, common carrier shipments, and internal shipping priorities are completed safely, accurately, and on schedule. This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership role that requires active engagement on the warehouse floor rather than behind a desk. The successful candidate will provide direction to shipping personnel, coordinate daily workload priorities, monitor operational performance, and support loading activities when needed. This position requires strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills to maintain productivity and meet daily shipping commitments.

Requirements

  • Proven leadership experience in shipping, warehouse, logistics, or distribution operations.
  • Strong understanding of loading procedures, freight handling, and shipping processes.
  • Ability to effectively lead teams in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to train and develop employees across multiple job functions.
  • Willingness and ability to perform physical work, including loading doors, cabinets, and other freight when necessary.
  • Proficient with basic computer systems; however, the primary focus of this role is floor leadership and operational execution rather than administrative tasks.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities while maintaining service and productivity standards.

Responsibilities

  • Arrive at the start of the shift (typically 5:00 AM) to review the shipping schedule and develop an operational plan for the day.
  • Review staffing requirements, workload forecasts, and labor plans to ensure resources are aligned with operational needs.
  • Identify potential risks or constraints that may impact daily shipping performance and develop solutions proactively.
  • Conduct daily startup meetings with the Cabinet Dock and Door Dock teams to communicate priorities, expectations, safety requirements, and operational goals.
  • Partner with Shipping Administration to establish and communicate daily shipment priorities.
  • Provide clear direction, coaching, and support to team members throughout the shift.
  • Promote accountability, teamwork, and a positive work environment while maintaining high performance standards.
  • Ensure all trucks scheduled for delivery are loaded completely, accurately, and on time.
  • Prioritize common carrier shipments based on scheduled ship dates, pickup times, and customer commitments.
  • Monitor workflow throughout the day to ensure loading activities remain on schedule.
  • Assist with loading doors, cabinets, and other materials when operational demands require additional support.
  • Verify that all shipments comply with company quality, safety, and transportation standards.
  • Develop and maintain a cross-trained workforce capable of supporting both Door Dock and Cabinet Dock operations.
  • Reassign personnel as needed to address staffing shortages, call-outs, or fluctuating workloads.
  • Support employee development through hands-on training, mentoring, and performance coaching.
  • Ensure operational continuity by maintaining adequate coverage across all shipping functions.
  • Promote and enforce all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain an active presence on the warehouse floor to monitor operations, identify improvement opportunities, and address issues immediately.
  • Drive efficiency, productivity, and quality while ensuring shipments are completed accurately and safely.
  • Lead by example through a strong work ethic, professional conduct, and hands-on involvement in daily operations.
