About The Position

The Shipping Supervisor supervises all aspects of the Shipping Department to ensure accurate and timely product delivery for the customer. The responsibilities include but are not limited to, the assignment of the department employees, the coordination of workflow with other departments, the training of new and current employees, and providing corrective action to employees as needed.

Requirements

  • The minimum education required for this position is a High School Diploma or Equivalent. May include specialized classes beyond high school.
  • Typically possesses minimum of 3 years of relevant professional work experience. Prior supervisory experience is preferred but not required.
  • First level of supervision or project lead. Responsible for a team performing one function (for example, customer service, bindery) for a project. Leads, assigns and monitors work for a team.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions. Ability to read, interpret and create simple correspondence and memos. Ability to effectively present information one-on-one and in small group situations.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Requires understanding of the overall printing production process and knowledge of the related shipping requirements
  • Basic knowledge of office equipment and software

  • Prior supervisory experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors shipping schedule for outgoing products.
  • Inspects packaged product(s) to ensure customer specifications are met.
  • Assigns tasks to personnel to assure all job duties are completed and downtime is minimized.
  • Evaluates performance of individual employees based on goals for productivity and quality.
  • Develops and implements processes to reduce labor and material costs.
  • Provides corrective action to employees based on productivity, attendance, quality, etc.
  • Trains new employees and provides advanced training to current employees.
  • Ensures compliance with established plant policies and procedures.
  • Must have working knowledge of all aspects of the shipping department (packing, shiprite, scan qa).
  • Communicates with other department managers and supervisors regarding production schedules and requirements to ensure product quality and resource efficiency.
  • Lifts up to 50 pound boxes of labels occasionally throughout the day and push/pulls 75-150 pound carts on wheels.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
