About The Position

Under the direction of the Department Manager, the Shipping Supervisor ensures the production of company products at the highest quality and at the lowest possible cost, meeting company policies and procedures. The Shipping Supervisor will act in a manner that is consistent with Gordon Aluminum’s Customer 1st Philosophy. The general purpose of the Shipping Supervisor is to coordinate the daily workload, determines shipping schedules, and trains the shipping team in safety, accuracy, quality and efficiency.

Requirements

  • One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Skilled with the Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures a clean and safe workplace for the entire department.
  • Ensures the team is trained on the quality requirements for the parts handled.
  • Responsible for time reporting, attendance, evaluations and disciplinary or corrective actions.
  • Communicate effectively within the department as well as with the other production departments.
  • Constant communications with customer service to provide superior service to our customers.
  • Continually looking for opportunities for improvement.
  • Be a great decision maker and lead by example.
  • Performing all work-related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Federal, State, and local standards and regulations.
  • Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding safety and standards of workplace behavior, in completing job duties and assignments.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
