About The Position

The Shipping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the shipping department to ensure accurate, timely, and cost-effective shipment of finished goods. This role supervises shipping personnel, coordinates logistics activities, maintains inventory accuracy, ensures compliance with safety regulations, and supports customer service objectives. The Shipping Supervisor works closely with production, inventory control, customer service, and transportation providers to meet delivery commitments and operational goals.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in shipping, logistics, or warehouse operations preferred
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with shipping software or ERP systems
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Good communication skills for coordinating with internal teams and external carriers

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate daily shipping activities to ensure on-time delivery of customer orders.
  • Plan, organize, and prioritize shipping schedules based on customer requirements and production output.
  • Lead, train, and develop shipping department employees.
  • Monitor employee performance and provide coaching, corrective action, and recognition as needed.
  • Ensure all shipments are prepared accurately, including packaging, labeling, documentation, and carrier requirements.
  • Verify shipping documents including bills of lading, packing slips, export documentation, and freight paperwork.
  • Coordinate shipments with carriers, freight companies, and third-party logistics providers.
  • Track shipments and resolve transportation or delivery issues.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and support cycle counting activities.
  • Collaborate with warehouse and production teams to ensure product availability and shipment readiness.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and customer requirements.
  • Monitor departmental productivity and identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Enforce workplace safety procedures and ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety regulations.
  • Investigate and report shipping discrepancies, damaged goods, and customer complaints.
  • Manage shipping supplies and equipment to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Assist with budgeting, freight cost control, and operational efficiency initiatives.
  • Generate and analyze shipping performance reports and key performance indicators (KPIs).
