About The Position

The Shipping and Receiving Supervisor is responsible for supervisory leadership to employees in the receiving, material, and shipping areas. Working hours will be spent on the warehouse floor, actively engaging with team members and operations to ensure customer fulfillment and maintain inventory control of finished goods.

Requirements

  • Leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and comprehend a variety of written forms and materials.
  • Effective verbal, written, and typed communication; correct spelling and grammar.
  • Knowledge of hazmat, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Familiarity with Carlisle policies and procedures.
  • Proficiency in SAP, Outlook, Excel, and general computer knowledge.
  • Strong math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, decimals, percentages).
  • Knowledge of Carlisle products, material handling, storage methods, and inventory tracking/control methods.
  • Computer experience in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Outlook, Word) and shipping software required.

Nice To Haves

  • 2- or 4-year degree strongly preferred.
  • Five (5) years of shipping experience preferred.
  • Five (5) years of supervisory experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Outline expectations, monitor workload, reallocate resources, and request additional resources to maintain a balance between capacity and workload.
  • Provide personnel supervision and development, including cross-training, job rotation, and supporting idea systems.
  • Timekeeping, overtime, and vacation administration.
  • Cycle count administration and support for annual physical inventory.
  • Provide employee feedback through performance evaluations, written disciplinary actions, and coaching.
  • Ensure employees adhere to daily Standard Work and Job Instructions.
  • Lead the department’s effort to reduce waste using SQDC boards and corrective action sheets.
  • Resolve problems and lead improvement initiatives, including root cause analysis on abnormal issues, cost savings, and warehouse problem-solving.
  • Assist with warehouse space management by scheduling locations for production put away and interdepartmental communication.
  • Monitor performance metrics, follow up on day-to-day issues, and ensure standard work is followed.
  • Coordinate with vendors for maintenance and repair of forklifts and other equipment.
  • Implement measures to improve safety, proper use of PPE, production methods, equipment performance, product quality, and standards of work.
  • Audit department for at-risk conditions or behaviors; report all accidents, injuries, and near misses to the Distribution Manager, ensuring documentation is completed.
  • Ensure adherence to Carlisle policies, procedures, and safety/environmental regulations.
  • Communicate with Customer Service Representatives, Production Supervisors, Team Leaders and crews, MRP Controllers, and Shipping/Receiving personnel to ensure products are shipped accurately and meet customer deadlines.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Distribution Manager.
