About The Position

As a Shipping Specialist at SEL, you would have the opportunity to retrieve, sort, and ship devices that protect power systems across the world in accordance with domestic and international shipping regulations. This may include working with Logistics & Foreign Trade Analysts—as well as other supporting staff—to ensure all products, materials, and supplies are in order prior to shipment. This is a swing shift position, Monday - Friday, 3:00pm – 11:30pm. SEL invents, designs, and builds digital products and systems that protect power grids around the world. This technology prevents blackouts and enables customers to improve power system reliability and safety at a reduced cost. Requirements

  • Show initiative to solve moderately technical problems and the ability to work independently within a team.
  • Consistently meet or exceed quality and production goals in assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Maintain a strong cooperative working relationship with co-workers, customers, and support staff.
  • Have previous experience in fork-lift truck operation.
  • Model, teach, and apply SEL Values, Principle of Operation, and World Class Manufacturing principles.
  • Understand, Create, Simplify.
  • Previous knowledge of packing materials and shipping requirements.
  • Strong math, documentation, writing and speaking skills.
  • Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities while following established work schedule and procedures.
  • Ability to frequently lift 40 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a standing position for up to 8 hours.

Responsibilities

  • Processing shipments through multiple carriers using SEL and external business systems.
  • Preparing shipping containers and pallets in accordance with SEL standards; scheduling and coordinating pick up with carriers.
  • Ensuring compliance with customer requested delivery methods and international export regulations.
  • Regularly communicating with customers and support staff to troubleshoot and resolve shipping issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.
