About The Position

The Shipping & Receiving Worker processes orders and ships products to customers, and unloads all materials and places them in the building. All training will be provided. This is a union-regulated position with steady work and overtime opportunities after training. The plant is air-conditioned, and there is an on-site smoking area outdoors. Tension Envelope Corporation is a medium-paced, engaging, and challenging business.

Requirements

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to communicate effectively with groups of customers or employees of the organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate and percentage and to interpret bar graphs.
Ability to read a ruler.
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
One (1) to three (3) months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of the metric system is a plus.

Responsibilities

Checks freight for damage and counts freight to match with bill of lading.
Performs shipment processing, including counting, packaging, weighing, and labeling of materials.
Loads trucks.
Writes orders and maintains the staging area.
Prepares bills of lading and other miscellaneous forms, including those for wastepaper trucks.
Operates a variety of mechanical equipment including forklift, elevator, and stretch wrapper.
Prepares shipping documentation (bill of lading, packing slips, etc.) on any urgent last-minute shipments.
Coordinates pickup and deliveries with outside carriers.
Performs related work as required.
Other duties may be assigned.
