We have an exciting opportunity for an Entry-Level Shipping & Receiving Technician I to join the team! This is a JETS II CBA position with Amentum.

Requirements

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Familiarity with shipping and receiving processes.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass defensive driving course.
  • Requires High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to follow set procedures and standards.
  • Apply basic mathematical skills.
  • Plan and work selecting proper tools.
  • Compare and understand differences in the size, shape, and form or lines, figures, and objects.
  • Follow written and oral directions, plans and blueprints.
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency may be a requirement for this position.
  • Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.

Nice To Haves

  • Handling of NASA flight hardware.
  • Previous shipping and receiving experience or other related logistics service.
  • Knowledge of quality inspection processes.
  • Forklift operation.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect all incoming material for condition, identification, quantity, and compliance with purchase orders.
  • Notify supervisor of any discrepancies.
  • Record or log items that are received or shipped in the proper database and/or hardcopy process.
  • Identify incoming flight oriented material and notify Quality Assurance.
  • Package items to prevent damage when shipping or transporting.
  • Affix identifying tag(s) to equipment as directed and incompliance with property and receiving procedures/requirements.
  • Maintain the work area in a neat, orderly, and safe manner.
  • Work will be under direct supervision with the exception of simple tasking.
  • Transport materials, documents, and mail as requested or directed.
  • Maintain storage areas located in shipping and receiving area.
  • Store received items in flammable storage cabinets or refrigerators, as required.
  • Operate material handling equipment.
  • May need to lead or escort subcontractors when needed.
  • Perform related duties as required.
  • Requires occasional: Climbing and maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc. above or below ground level.
  • Bending, kneeling crouching, squatting and/or crawling from one to 30 minutes at a time.
  • Hearing with or without correction.
  • Requires frequent: Standing.
  • Coordinating eyes, hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment.
  • Requires constant: Lifting up to 50 pounds from ground level (frequent), at waist level (frequent) and overhead (occasional).
  • Carrying up to 50 pounds for 3 yards.
  • Reaching for, handling and manipulating objects and materials in all directions.
  • Seeing with or without correction.
  • Ability to recognize and report safety hazards.
  • Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical.
  • Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
  • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.
  • Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.
  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
  • Must be able to effectively interface with delivery drivers.
