About The Position

This role is responsible for managing incoming materials and equipment, verifying their accuracy and condition, and preparing them for orders. The specialist will also pull stock from inventory, prepare and deliver warehouse merchandise to internal departments, and maintain accurate records and filing systems. Key responsibilities include handling all aspects of shipping and receiving, determining shipment methods, affixing labels, selecting shipping containers, unpacking and inspecting shipments, routing items, and performing cycle counts. The role also involves interacting with various internal departments and external carriers, maintaining warehouse cleanliness and organization, operating powered industrial trucks, generating documents using Microsoft Windows, and observing safety rules. Additional duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate (or GED)
  • Minimum 6 months in shipping, receiving and warehouse operations preferred.
  • Forklift operation experience.
  • Computer operation, Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, ERP systems.
  • Familiarity with basic warehouse and shipping machines and tools.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to be on your feet all day.
  • Ability to work well with others on a team.
  • Ability to acquire new skills and to accommodate change in the workplace.
  • Become forklift certified within 2 weeks of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with foreign shipping procedures preferred.
  • Familiarity with Pacejet and CSI.

Responsibilities

  • Handles all aspects of shipping and receiving while keeping accurate records.
  • Determines method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes and rates.
  • Affixes shipping labels on cartons or pallets identifying shipping information, using proper equipment.
  • Selects and assembles proper shipping containers using proper shipping fillers.
  • Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages/overages and rectifies all situations.
  • Routes items appropriately to internal departments.
  • Maintains cycle counts.
  • Interacts with Production, Purchasing, Customer Service, and Sales personnel to ensure timely shipment and receipt of products.
  • Interact with transport personnel such as UPS, FEDEX, DHL and other common carriers.
  • Maintain housekeeping in work area and warehouses. Ensure inventory is properly stored, aisles kept free of obstructions and trash is picked up and properly disposed.
  • Assist Facilities group with seasonal activities.
  • Operate powered industrial trucks and hand equipment to handle and transport materials or load and unload trucks.
  • Upkeep of all warehouses to include shelf labeling, tracking and general cleanliness.
  • Upkeep of all warehouse aisles-nothing on the floor, nothing hanging over the shelving.
  • Generate various documents using Microsoft Windows.
  • Observe required safety rules.
  • Other duties as assigned.
