Requirements

  • Minimum completion of Grade 12 diploma
  • Minimum 3 years practical experience in the operation of a forklift in a shipping/receiving role
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer literate in word & spreadsheet programs
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively solve problems
  • Strong Leadership capabilities in accomplishing team objectives
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Valid Forklift Operator License
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Well-developed organizational and time management skills

Responsibilities

  • Provide Leadership support of personnel to work effectively and build an effective team using team building approach
  • Organize warehouse and ensure part storage location is kept orderly
  • Submit weekly hours worked as necessary to ensure correct/timely weekly payroll runs
  • Ensure timely deliveries to customers and monitor/track for departmental metrics
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Perform regular formal/informal workplace inspections, maintain 5S standards
  • Enforce safety rules and correct unsafe acts or conditions
  • Supervise staff within the department, providing training, mentoring and performance management to ensure employee productivity and effectiveness
  • Allocate labor resources to Shipping based on requirements and competency
  • Utilize the employee corrective action and progressive discipline process as required
  • Responsible for shipper training, Shipper rotation and maintaining the corresponding records
  • Oversee preparation of all documentation for shipments and provide training when applicable
  • Issue, monitor and track part FIFO
  • Ensure that all forklift operators follow safe operating procedures (SOP)
  • Lead and communicate in daily pre/post shift meetings
  • Perform all job functions in a safe and healthful manner, abiding by all health, safety and environmental rules and regulations, promoting safety in the workplace
  • Comply with the requirements of CTPAT/PIP
  • Conduct business in an ethical manner in compliance with the Magna Code of Conduct
  • Report all accidents/incidents and unsafe conditions/behavior
  • Adhere to applicable quality systems and IATF-16949 standards
  • Adhere to and promote the Employee Charter and work within the rules, regulations and guidelines of the Plastcoat Employee Handbook
  • Participate in and support Continuous Improvement initiatives
  • Maintain work area in accordance with the principles of 5S and operate daily within these standards
  • Perform other duties as required
