About The Position

The Shipping Supervisor supports the Shipping Manager in coordinating and overseeing the daily operations of the shipping and receiving department. This role assists with supervising a team of 6 to 8 employees, coordinating with trucking companies, and supporting TL and LTL shipment activities to help ensure customer orders are shipped accurately and on time. The Shipping Supervisor works closely with the Shipping Manager to support departmental goals, maintain efficient shipping processes, and promote a safe and organized work environment. The Shipping Supervisor assists the Shipping Manager with daily shipping and receiving operations, including scheduling support, monitoring daily orders, and helping ensure customer-specific shipping requirements and documentation are completed accurately. This position supports all aspects of the shipping process, including reviewing open orders, verifying paperwork, coordinating shipments, and assisting with expediting orders to ensure products are loaded and shipped in an efficient and timely manner. The Shipping Supervisor also provides hands-on support, leadership, and training to shipping team members and assists the Shipping Manager with employee development, onboarding, and departmental initiatives.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Three to five years of warehouse, shipping, or logistics experience required.
  • Prior leadership or lead experience preferred.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, Amtech, or similar systems preferred.
  • Experience within a manufacturing shipping and receiving environment preferred.
  • Strong computer and organizational skills.
  • Ability to analyze information and support process improvement initiatives.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Shipping Manager with the daily operations of the shipping and receiving department.
  • Serve as backup support for the Shipping Manager during vacations, absences, or peak workload periods.
  • Assist in coordinating incoming materials to help ensure production targets are met through proper receiving, inspection, storage, and delivery processes.
  • Help ensure standard operating procedures are followed to support inventory accuracy and on-time delivery goals.
  • Support timely responses to shipping and receiving email inquiries.
  • Utilize and support 3PL inventory systems.
  • Assist with FedEx/UPS shipping activities, including tracking shipments and providing reports to internal teams or customers as needed.
  • Coordinate customer shipment appointments and carrier scheduling to support on-time delivery performance.
  • Maintain professional, customer-facing communication through email and phone correspondence with customers, carriers, and internal departments.
  • Support Walmart Retail Link and other customer portal activities as needed.
  • Provide hands-on support within shipping and receiving operations, including assisting with dock activities, paperwork flow, and operational troubleshooting.
  • Help validate receiving inspections and receiving documentation processes.
  • Assist with cycle counts and inventory reconciliation activities within the ERP system.
  • Support interactions with EDI systems, customer retail links, and customer portals.
  • Assist with monitoring customer due date reports to support on-time and accurate shipments.
  • Help ensure CPU product dimensions and weights are properly entered for shipping purposes.
  • Assist in preparing and shipping orders according to customer-specific requirements.
  • Utilize company software systems to support order scheduling and shipment coordination.
  • Support housekeeping and organization efforts within the shipping area.
  • Assist with compiling operational metrics and reports as requested.
  • Support associate accountability through communication, coaching, and feedback.
  • Promote and support a safe work environment by assisting with safety compliance, reporting concerns, and participating in investigations and follow-up activities as needed.
  • Assist with supervising shipping and receiving associates to support departmental objectives related to quality, productivity, and service.
  • Help coordinate schedule priorities, dispatch lists, expedited orders, and rework activities as directed.
  • Support company initiatives related to employee involvement, communication, and continuous improvement.
  • Promote a positive culture focused on quality, teamwork, and customer service.
  • Communicate operational concerns and daily issues to the Shipping Manager to support continuity of operations.
  • Assist with after-hours shipment coordination and communication as business needs require.
