About The Position

The 1st Shift Shipping & Receiving Supervisor maintains overall responsibility and accountability for functions within the shipping and receiving (S/R) department. This role involves implementing company rules and regulations, monitoring department performance against goals, and ensuring adherence to safety and GMP rules. The supervisor will also manage inventory, train personnel, act as a liaison with external parties, and oversee department discipline using the Warehouse Management System (WMS). Collaboration with Production and the Supply Chain Manager is crucial to meet production needs. Additionally, the role includes managing equipment, inter-departmental material transport, and specific shipping tasks for food banks, rejects, and returns. Performance reviews, goal setting, counseling, and disciplinary actions for S/R employees are also key responsibilities.

Requirements

  • 2 years Customer Service experience
  • 2 years WMS / ERP experience
  • Knowledge of general office equipment
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to use various PC software in Windows environment
  • Knowledge of typing and 10-key calculator
  • Basic knowledge of the internet
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to solve problems independently
  • Ability to make decisions quickly and accurately
  • Train-the trainer Forklift Certification
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Works well with little supervision
  • Works well in a team environment
  • Maintains a high level of business courtesy and etiquette when interacting with Customers, Vendors, and Sales representatives
  • Demonstrated time management and multitasking skills
  • Willingness to work additional hours as necessary
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age

Responsibilities

  • Maintains overall responsibility and accountability for functions within the shipping and receiving (S/R) department.
  • Implements all company rules and regulations as per current Employee Handbook.
  • Monitors S/R department performance and compare to established goals.
  • Maintains active participation in the Daily Staff Meetings.
  • Obeys all Safety Rules.
  • Conducts accident and incident investigations.
  • Adheres to current GMP rules and Food Defense Plan.
  • Participate in Internal Audits and Inspection walks.
  • Completes assigned tasks listed in Corrective Action Plans.
  • Understands Lean Manufacturing tools including 5 why’s, Brainstorming, Fishbone, Graphs and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Trains all shipping and receiving personnel on policies, procedures.
  • Acts as primary liaison with Customer’s Logistics department and assigned carriers.
  • Manages inventory of Loose Pack, Materials and Finished goods, including all physical inventory counts and inventory consolidation.
  • Responsible for department discipline and adherence using the WMS (Warehouse Management System).
  • Works closely with Production and the Supply Chain Manager to assure productions needs are met.
  • Responsible for keeping all forklifts and material handling equipment in good working order.
  • Responsible for managing the inter-departmental transport of materials.
  • Responsible for shipping of goods related to Food Bank, Rejects and Returns.
  • Performs performance reviews and goals settings of S/R employees.
  • Provides Counseling and Disciplinary Actions to S/R employees as needed.
