About The Position

The Clerk is responsible for supporting shipping operations by safely preparing, packaging, and processing materials to meet customer, production, and quality requirements. This role ensures shipments are accurately weighed, verified, packed, labeled, and documented in accordance with customer specifications and established shipping procedures. This position is also responsible for receiving, storing, and issuing equipment, materials, supplies, and tools while maintaining accurate stock and receiving records. The clerk will coordinate the flow of products to and from finishing operations, initiates, receives, and reconciles purchase orders. Performs the responsibilities outlined below for the assigned shipping area.

  • Ability to safely operate forklifts and company vehicles; must obtain and maintain required Fork Truck certification.
  • Ability to safely lift and handle materials weighing up to 70 pounds.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed and maintain compliance with all health, safety, and workplace standards.
  • High School Diploma or GED certification

Responsibilities

  • Follow all environmental, health, and safety procedures while maintaining a safe and organized 5S work environment.
  • Review and follow quality, process, and operator instructions.
  • Accurately weigh, count, receive, issue, and ship materials while maintaining inventory and shipment accuracy.
  • Package, label, barcode, and prepare products using approved methods (shrink wrap, banding, dunnage, etc.) according to customer specifications.
  • Create and maintain shipping schedules, documentation, and records using Plex and Production Control systems, including packing slips, commercial invoices, bills of lading, SEDs, and ASNs.
  • Perform receiving activities by unloading trucks, inspecting materials, verifying quantities, and matching documentation to purchase orders and subcontractor records.
  • Verify product routing, conduct visual and quality inspections, record results, and identify, contain, and document nonconforming materials through NCM processes.
  • Utilize Plex to manage inventory activities, including ordering, receiving, issuing, purchasing, scrap entry, and inventory control.
  • Maintain accurate inventory through cycle counts, physical inventories, month-end verification, proper storage practices, and accurate part/location records.
  • Coordinate product flow to and from production, finishing operations, outside service providers, and carriers.
  • Label purchased components and deliver materials to production as needed.
  • Communicate with suppliers, customers, carriers, logistics personnel, and internal teams to verify orders, expedite shipments, and resolve delivery issues.
  • Maintain accurate shipping, receiving, purchasing, and inventory documentation.
  • Manage shipping supplies, packaging materials, and dunnage inventory.
  • Cross-train in shipping, receiving, and storeroom functions to provide backup support.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and assist with additional duties as assigned by the Supply Chain Manager, Team Leader, or Supervisor.
