The Shipping & Receiving Clerk tracks incoming and outgoing shipment schedules, inventory counts, product condition, and shipping and receiving documentation. The role ensures product descriptions and quantities match invoices for inbound shipments and Sales Orders for outbound shipments, properly accounts for the location of incoming goods, and helps prevent damaged items from being sent or received. The clerk compares packing lists with company purchase orders, updates inventory as products are received, prepares products and paperwork for returns to vendors, and collaborates with the marketing department on schedules for assembling and displaying manufacturer marketing materials on the sales floor. The role follows established work processes and company safety rules, and engages vendors and drivers positively and respectfully. It also requires timely communication with the work team—including forklift drivers and checkers—and the supervisor, as well as the ability to execute tasks and report results to management.
