About The Position

This position is responsible for performing level II Shipping & Receiving functions to properly pick, pack, ship, and receive all products and materials for assigned location. It involves verifying and keeping records on incoming and outgoing shipments and preparing items for shipment. The role requires comparing identifying information and counts, weights, or measures of items against documentation to verify accuracy. The individual in this role must be able to plan and execute functions independently with minimal supervision. Depending on the site/location, the role may focus on specific shipping and/or receiving activities. Cross-training and substitution of other tasks are required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED or 4 years of machine operator/manufacturing experience required.
  • 2-3+ years’ experience performing a variety of shipping & administrative duties.
  • 12-months fork truck experience required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications to include: Excel, Word and Power Point.
  • Ability to learn new software programs (USPS, FedEx, ERP, etc.).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to maintain a positive, polite and friendly demeanor during challenging situations; English fluency (read, write, speak).
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities; proven ability to multitask in a stressful environment (dirty, confined spaces, strict timelines, etc.), attention to detail, and adapt to changing demands.
  • Read and understand units of measure; ability to perform basic math functions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be safety conscious and carry out work responsibilities in a safe manner.
  • Must be able to work overtime to meet operational requirements.
  • Able to safely perform related physical requirements/demands of the role.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, using tools, and performing repetitive actions that entail frequent bending, reaching, climbing, stooping, lifting, pounding, pushing and/or pulling.
  • Move throughout the work location to comply with safety requirements.
  • Exert up to 130 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move object.
  • Manual dexterity to move material and operate equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Answer incoming phone calls and direct them to the appropriate personnel.
  • Greet drivers and/or customers upon entering the Shipping office.
  • Assist drivers/customers with issues within scope of knowledge and authority.
  • Confirm pickup number with Drivers and provide instruction for pickup.
  • Confirm delivery for receivables.
  • Type correspondence to carriers, customers, Shipping team, etc. in the form of e-mail, memos, letters, etc.
  • Assign time-sensitive, high profile, white glove, and/or load discrepancy communications to the Shipping Expeditor.
  • Schedule freight pickups & containers using SSD and/or scheduling board.
  • Adhere to and follow all quality guidelines; continually check materials and orders to ensure accuracy.
  • Maintain a safe and orderly work environment; maintain fork truck by completing proper inspection and reporting any maintenance issues immediately to supervisor and maintenance department.
  • Prepare orders for shipment; retrieve materials and stage, wrap and strap skids as required or select pre-assembled orders.
  • Recommend method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, carriers, routes, and rates.
  • Affix shipping labels, identifying information, and shipping instructions onto packed orders, pallets, or containers; post weights and shipping charges, and affix postage.
  • Examine outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
  • Load trucks, flatbeds, and/or containers; process all transfer paperwork.
  • Prepare shipping paperwork (domestic & international), bills of lading, and maintain documentation of orders shipped within Epicor to ensure accuracy.
  • Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
  • Schedule LTL carriers for daily pickup.
  • Close packs/scan documents as trucks are loaded.
  • Print Bill of Ladings (BOL) and match with Epicor paperwork.
  • Process packs creating Bill of Ladings (BOL) in Epicor as time allows.
  • Print pick lists for same day orders released off of Credit hold.
  • Perform computer functions necessary to track various aspects of orders.
  • Operate fork truck or use hand truck to lift/transport raw materials and finished products while adhering to all power industrial equipment rules and safety requirements.
  • Schedule receiving/update receiving board.
  • Unload trucks, flatbeds, and/or containers.
  • Receive merchandise, check and sign delivery slips; print proper receiving/transfer documents and route incoming materials, supplies, or equipment to the appropriate department or area within the same day received.
  • Unpack/examine incoming shipments, record shortages and discrepancies; work directly with Purchasing team to resolve any discrepancies on deliveries.
  • Process receipts in Epicor within same day received.
  • Scan/attach receiving documentation per Purchasing SOP.
  • Receive Return Merchandise Authorizations (RMA); work with Quality/Supply Chain to determine disposition.
  • Oversee polymer truck deliveries; contact appropriate department and ensures sign in/out procedures are followed.
  • Responsible for EFS and PF America shipping, cutting, and processing.
