About The Position

The Shipping & Receiving Clerk is responsible for verifying, recording, and preparing incoming and outgoing shipments to support efficient operations at Refab Metal. This role plays a key part in maintaining accurate inventory, ensuring timely and accurate shipping documentation, and supporting daily logistics. Operating as a critical team member within the Shipping department, working directly with Refab’s own truck driver to complete all deliveries to vendors and customers daily. This position directly contributes to customer satisfaction and smooth shipping flow.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Basic math skills include ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into various units.
  • Must be very organized and detail oriented.
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret routine documents such as shipping papers and memos.
  • General computer skills.
  • Effective communication skills for interaction in one-on-one and small group settings.
  • Valid Michigan driver’s license and ability to become licensed to operate lift trucks.

Nice To Haves

  • 6-12 months of related shipping/receiving or warehouse experience.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

  • Verify incoming and outgoing shipments by comparing product identifiers and quantities to packing lists and purchase orders.
  • Monitor shipping schedule for driver’s plan, includes working with REFAB driver to best execute plan.
  • Responsible to receipt of incoming product, labeling, and putting away product in proper location.
  • Examine outgoing shipments to confirm they meet specifications and prepare items for delivery.
  • Generate required shipping documents including packing lists and bills of lading.
  • Wrap skids, load and unload trucks, inspecting skids to ensure proper handling.
  • Operate lift trucks and hand trucks to transport shipments safely to designated areas.
  • Maintain periodic inventory and cycle counts for accuracy.
  • Ensure floor space is efficiently utilized for key customer inventory.
  • Track and replenish departmental packaging materials and shipping supplies.
  • Review and prep daily and next day shipping schedules and report discrepancies or issues to the Team Facilitator.
  • Support manufacturing by operating machinery as needed.
  • Participate in special projects or other tasks assigned by leadership.
