About The Position

The Shipping/Receiving Associate is responsible for preparing parts and other items for shipment, and for receiving, verifying, and recording incoming materials using the MRP system. This role requires the ability to perform essential duties satisfactorily, with the understanding that additional job duties may be assigned. The position also involves training new employees, communicating effectively, and contributing to a positive work environment. Employees are expected to adhere to company policies, including ISO14001, IATF16949, and safety regulations, and to support company values.

Requirements

  • 12+ months related experience in shipping and receiving in manufacturing/industrial environment highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of PLEX
  • Hi-Lo License, Overhead crane highly preferred.
  • Consistently exhibit appropriate attendance habits, working the hours necessary to perform the job.
  • Organize and maintain efficiency of personal work area.
  • Provide necessary, accurate, and timely feedback of all pertinent information to co-workers and management.
  • Effectively communicate with co-workers and management personnel to enhance teamwork and communication initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Loads and unloads trucks using material handling equipment.
  • Uses hand trucks, pallet jacks, forklifts, and material handling equipment to move shipments from shipping and receiving area to storage or work areas.
  • Wraps and packages completed parts and assemblies and boxes for shipment to customer.
  • Performs part validation per written work instructions.
  • Verifies quantities to be part-marked, packaged, and shipped and examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
  • Uses the company’s MRP system to verify deliveries, put parts on hand and create packing slips.
  • Prepares and secures cartons, crates, pallets, and other containers for shipment of goods.
  • Stamps, stencils, labels, or affixes identifying information and shipping instructions onto cartons, pallets, crates, or containers as required.
  • Determines method of shipment and posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage as necessary.
  • Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
  • Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and communicates with the buyer and/or shipper to reconcile damages and shortages.
  • Routes items to the appropriate departments as required.
  • Monitors and maintains appropriate inventory levels of shipping materials and supplies.
  • Meets established standards for productivity and quality.
  • Confers with supervisor when problems arise which impact expected level of performance.
  • Training of new employees that apply to shipping and receiving responsibilities.
  • Ability to communicate well and work with others.
  • Must contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Performs any task required to support customer requirements and company goals.
  • Must be able to work over-time as require.
