About The Position

This role involves packing and re-packing a wide variety of materials, ensuring they meet specific release order requirements. The packer will determine the appropriate packing methods based on provided documentation and instructions, including military standards, DOD Manuals, and regulatory requirements for hazardous materials (HAZMAT) and radioactive materials (RAD). The position reports to a designated Lead, Supervisor, or Manager.

Requirements

  • Minimum three (3) months general work experience which will demonstrate ability to perform requirements of position.
  • High school diploma or GED required. May substitute experience for education at the rate of one year of general experience for one year of high school.
  • Must be able to obtain license to use MHE within 30 days of selection.
  • Packers who process material requiring HAZMAT Certification must be able to successfully pass training requirements.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 45 pounds for short distances.
  • Ability to stoop, bend, kneel, and walk.
  • Full dexterity.
  • Correctable vision.

  • Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies, examines, classifies, accepts, rejects, and disposes of material as per DLA regulations.
  • Ensures material is properly preserved/packaged/marked/labeled in accordance with Military Standards prior to releasing material to storage or shipping.
  • Selects proper size container and cushioning to be used from available stock to ensure protection against damage.
  • Conducts basic processes of inspection/examination procedures for material.
  • Reads specifications and photographs as/if required in DLA contract.
  • May operate Material Handling Equipment (MHE) in combination with packing duties to load material on and off of skids, pallets, stands and vehicles.
  • Receives data from and inputs data to DSS and other automated systems in performance of duties and is able to prepare basic reports.
  • Counts, weights, records data, prepares and applies tags/labels.
  • Performs all other position-related duties as assigned or requested.
  • Maintains a safe work environment by completing all training requirements, fulfilling self-aid/buddy aid responsibilities, participating in emergency response tasks, and serving on safety committees and teams.
  • Conforms to the Amentum Quality Policy and carries out job activities in compliance with applicable Amentum Quality System documents and customer contracts.
  • Reads, understands, and implements the general and specific operational, safety, quality, and environmental requirements of all plans, procedures, and policies pertaining to the job.
