About The Position

Campbell Fittings, part of the Ideal Tridon Group, is a leader in engineering and manufacturing hose fittings, couplings, ferrules, and sleeves. The company is recruiting for a Shipping Operator to join their team. The ideal candidate will have prior shipping experience in a warehouse/manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills including active listening
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues efficiently and able to ask for help when needed
  • Proficient computer skills with the ability to learn new software
  • Ability to interpret shipping documents, and understand instructions and work directions.
  • Must be comfortable and efficient in working in a busy open-floor environment
  • Must be comfortable working in a team environment as well as individually
  • Must be able to multitask and possess decision making skills for prioritizing workload
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of shipping experience in a warehouse/manufacturing environment highly preferred
  • Prolonged periods of standing entire shift
  • Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 70 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to bend and twist throughout the entire shift.
  • Shipping Operator must require help from coworkers when handling heavy pallets and skids weighing up to 1500 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Forklift experience certification a plus
  • Inventory control, cycle counting, and researching root cause and making recommendations on how to solve and eliminate inventory errors desired.
  • Experience using scan guns and their use in shipping, inventory put-away and picking, and cycle counting desired.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for providing service to the manufacturing operation regarding shipping of products to ensure quality of service, and internal customer delivery expectations consistent with company policy and performance standards.
  • Coordinates the tasks of team members to execute the functions of shipping/ warehousing by performing a combination of duties associated with, manually preparing, handling, organizing, loading, unloading of skids or packaged orders to be received and stocked.
  • Verifies paperwork including quantities, dimensions, weights. Secures loads, distributes and assure that material handling is being done accordingly to the necessary documentation or instruction including but not limited to work order, shop prints, verbal instructions or other form of instruction.
  • Generates the required labels for each shipped parts or materials, making sure to include all the required information such as, sales order number, supplier, customer name, date packed and total of individual skids or boxes.
  • Observing all safety and operational procedures, including maintaining all required paperwork, safety logs, preventive maintenance logs and checklist to meet quality, and delivery expectations.
  • The Shipping Operator must be decisive and possess the ability to choose an alternative course of action when necessary. Always maintaining communication with Operations Manager and/or Operations Supervisor for further approval.
  • A sense of urgency toward efficiency and delivery challenges, safety compliance and quality are paramount. The Shipping Operator should make recommendations to Operations Management for changes to working conditions and methods to improve efficiency while ensuring employee safety; must maintain a positive team environment within the work group.
  • Maintains and updates appropriate documentation including but not limited to production, scrap, downtime reports, production board, quality and safety logs Implements and maintains 5’S practices in his/her work area including in equipment according to company procedures.
  • Job may require overtime and a flexible schedule, reporting early and working late including weekends from time to time.
  • Follow all established safety rules and procedures including wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) which includes: Mandatory: Covered toe shoes, Optional: Safety glasses, steel-toe shoes (toe protection shoes), gloves, hearing protection
  • Report defective materials and unusual or unsafe conditions to Production Supervisor or Operations Manager
  • Performs other related or additional duties as assigned.
