About The Position

The Material Handling Technician I role encompasses four different indirect labor positions: Receiving, Shipping, Parts Warehouse, and Driver. This position will primarily focus on shipping. Requirements

  • A High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 3-4 years of shipping, receiving, or warehouse experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Able to work in a manufacturing environment (exposure to noise, coolants, abrasives, heat, cold, adhesives, automated and manual machinery) wearing PPE (safety glasses, safety shoes, and Kevlar gloves).
  • Familiarity with MRP systems and performing inventory transactions.
  • Basic understanding of inventory controls and cycle counting.
  • Strong computer and data entry skills required (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, with co-workers, internal customers and vendors.
  • Demonstrate great attendance, punctuality, and time sensitivity.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and multi-task accurately.
  • Quality-conscious individual with excellent attention to detail.
  • Must be able to manage multiple priorities with tight deadlines.
  • Works well in a collaborative and positive team environment.
  • A valid Drivers' license with a clean driving record (CDL is not required).
  • Ability to follow all federal and/or state laws, regulations, and /or agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
  • At least 25 years old (at time of application) due to insurance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Verifying counts of incoming and outgoing materials.
  • Receiving purchase orders.
  • Distributing products to required departments.
  • Moving parts to appropriate work centers.
  • Pulling, packing, and preparing finished goods for final shipping to customers.
  • Refilling product bins with incoming inventory.
  • Receiving product into the warehouse.
  • Issuing manufacturing orders for Production.
  • Issuing kits to final assembly and maintaining accuracy of component parts.
  • Maintaining inventory of knife components.
  • Transporting finished goods and raw materials between warehouse locations within a specific timeframe.
  • Driving a box truck safely and responsibly to and from company locations.
  • Loading and unloading materials and finished goods from a truck individually or as part of a team, verifying and transacting loads for accuracy.
  • Managing inventory electronically using Syspro MRP system (and other computer applications).
  • Maintaining inventory by identifying, labeling, and placing materials in stock; records location of inventory.
  • Performing cycle counts of inventory.
  • Providing excellent service to customers (internal stakeholders) and vendors.
  • Operating lift trucks, pallet jacks, and other equipment safely to move parts and inventory to proper locations.
  • Maintaining material-handling equipment by completing pre-use inspections.
  • Identifying when lock out, tag out is appropriate.
  • Displaying keen awareness to safety guidelines, procedures, and policies; and ability to identify and report safety concerns.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  • Supporting on-going reporting of key performance metrics.
  • Displaying job specific competency as defined by training proficiency matrixes.
  • Contributing ideas on ways to improve or optimize warehousing procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
