About The Position

Havertys is hiring a Shipping Material Handler for its Distribution Team. The role involves hands-on warehouse work preparing customer merchandise for shipment and Home Delivery. Team members receive onsite training beginning on their first day and work collaboratively in a team-focused environment centered on customer service, integrity, quality, and teamwork. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to completion, and starting pay is $16.50 per hour.

Requirements

• Ability to perform heavy lifting throughout the shift, up to 150 pounds.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift and move furniture up to 150 pounds.
• Ability to use proper material-handling techniques.
• Attention to detail.
• Ability to work as a team player.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check, lifting assessment, and drug test.
• Must successfully complete a physical assessment.

• Previous warehouse experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in teams of two to four to unbox, inspect, assemble, and wrap customer merchandise for shipment.
• Properly inspect and handle furniture and other merchandise, including sofas, sectionals, power lift chairs, mattresses, bedroom furniture, dressers, bookcases, dining tables, and chairs.
• Provide value as a team member and contribute to team performance.
• Develop productivity and time-management skills.
• Handle materials and merchandise properly to minimize damage and injury.
• Inspect products for quality in preparation for Home Delivery.
• Follow safety policies and contribute to the company’s safety culture.
• Maintain a clean work environment free from tripping hazards.
• Load and unload trucks and wrap and unwrap merchandise using proper material-handling techniques.
• Follow other instructions and perform additional duties as requested by a supervisor.
