About The Position

The Shipping Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the shipping department. This position involves managing personnel, ensuring the accuracy of shipments and maintaining an efficient and safe warehouse environment. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, excellent organizational abilities, and experience in shipping and warehouse operations.

Requirements

• Computer operation – printing labels, word processing, spreadsheets, generate reports and ability to effectively communicate via email.
• Experience using FedEx system or use of comparable system.
• Prior experience in filling out domestic/international shipping papers (bill of lading, international commercial invoices)
• Ability to listen, understand, and follow directions.
• Ability to work in a variety of roles.
• Strong project management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others in a team environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to utilize the tact and diplomacy required to foster a team environment while keeping projects on schedule and budget.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast paced, deadline driven environment, as well as a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• 5+ years of shipping experience required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and lead the shipping team, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently, safely, and according to company standards.
• Review packing slips and verify the accuracy of shipments, ensuring items are properly logged and managed.
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of all items shipped, including any discrepancies or issues that arise during the process.
• Safely operate forklifts and other warehouse lifting equipment to move and handle inventory, as necessary.
• Identify opportunities to improve shipping processes for better efficiency, accuracy, and safety.
• Provide training and ongoing support to team members on proper shipping procedures, safety standards, and equipment operation.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
