We are currently looking for a Shipping Manager to be based out of our Louisville, KY plant. You will be responsible for managing a team of employees by being a key leader of the Shipping department and the Plant Management Team.

Requirements

Associate degree and minimum of 5 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Supervisory experience is required with a minimum of 3 years' experience managing people
Time management, planning and organizational skills
Effective decision making and problem-solving abilities
Experience working with shipping and receiving database/software
Shipping/material handling experience with knowledge of shipping and receiving principles, practices, and procedures
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Strong initiative and adaptable to change

Responsibilities

Identify work procedures; prepare work schedules and expedite workflow
Examine work for exactness, neatness and conformance to policies and procedures
Study and standardize procedures to improve efficiency
Review pipe orders to determine truckload space/percentage and if a fill is needed
Communicate with CSR regarding fills and order status when requested
Coordinate product needs with the Production Department and the Plant Manager
Communicate with shipping personnel regarding incoming deliveries or special instructions
Negotiate freight rates and search for additional carriers for backup
Assist with inventory control process
Report inventory discrepancies to Inventory Control
Strong knowledge of JD Edwards for shipping utilization
