About The Position

The Shipping Logistics & Trade Compliance Specialist – Equilibar is responsible for coordinating domestic and international shipments while ensuring products are shipped accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable company, carrier, customs, and regulatory requirements. This position serves as a key operational resource for outbound and inbound logistics, working closely with Operations, Customer Service, Sales, Supply Chain, and third-party carriers to ensure products reach customers safely and on time. A key responsibility of this position is managing the documentation and information required for international shipments, including commercial invoices, packing lists, HTS classifications, country-of-origin information, tariff requirements, and other customs or carrier documentation. The role helps ensure shipment information is accurate, complete, and consistent with applicable import/export requirements before products leave the facility. In addition to international shipping responsibilities, this position coordinates domestic shipments, selects and works with appropriate carriers and freight providers, prepares products for shipment, maintains shipping records, and assists with the resolution of transportation or customs issues. The position also supports inbound international shipments and works with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and other logistics partners as required. This role is suited for a highly organized and detail-oriented individual who enjoys coordinating multiple priorities and understands the importance of documentation accuracy, regulatory compliance, and customer service in a global manufacturing environment. This is a full-time position based in Fletcher, NC.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous experience with domestic and international shipping, logistics, freight forwarding, customs documentation, or trade compliance.
  • Familiarity with commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, certificates of origin, and international shipping documentation.
  • Experience working with parcel carriers, LTL carriers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to learn carrier, ERP, and trade compliance systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to documentation accuracy.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple shipments and customer requirements in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to identify potential compliance concerns and seek guidance rather than proceeding with incomplete or uncertain information.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and execute domestic and international shipments, ensuring customer orders are shipped accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with customer, carrier, and regulatory requirements.
  • Review shipping instructions, customer requirements, Incoterms, service levels, and order information to determine appropriate shipment requirements and documentation.
  • Prepare shipping transactions, labels, bills of lading, air waybills, and other required shipment records.
  • Coordinate shipment timing with Production, Customer Service, and other internal teams and verify that products and required documentation are ready prior to carrier pickup.
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound transportation with parcel carriers, LTL carriers, freight companies, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and other third-party logistics providers.
  • Obtain freight quotations, schedule pickups and deliveries, determine appropriate transportation methods, and balance cost, service level, reliability, and customer requirements.
  • Track shipments through delivery and proactively address transportation delays, customs holds, lost or damaged shipments, carrier claims, billing discrepancies, and other logistics issues.
  • Support continuous improvement of freight costs, carrier performance, delivery reliability, and overall logistics processes.
  • Coordinate the documentation and compliance activities required for international imports and exports.
  • Prepare and review commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, customs documentation, and other import/export records to ensure shipment information is complete and accurate.
  • Maintain and support accurate HTS classifications, country-of-origin information, product descriptions, values, and other trade-related data within company systems.
  • Assist with identifying applicable duties, tariffs, and customs requirements and coordinate classification or regulatory questions with internal resources, customs brokers, freight forwarders, or other qualified resources when necessary.
  • Follow established company procedures related to export controls, restricted-party screening, sanctions, product classifications, destination and end-user requirements, and other applicable trade regulations.
  • Identify shipments requiring additional review and ensure potential compliance concerns are resolved or escalated before shipment.
  • Maintain accurate shipment, logistics, and trade compliance records within ERP and applicable carrier or compliance systems.
  • Ensure tracking information, shipment dates, freight charges, export documentation, classifications, and other required records are properly captured and retained.
  • Support improvements to ERP, shipping, and compliance processes that increase efficiency, documentation accuracy, traceability, and shipment visibility.
  • Work closely with Production, Customer Service, Sales, Supply Chain, Quality, and other internal teams to coordinate shipment requirements and resolve issues that could affect delivery.
  • Communicate proactively regarding shipment status, transportation issues, customs delays, documentation requirements, or compliance concerns that may affect customer commitments.
