About The Position

CSafe is seeking a Trade Compliance Specialist (TCS) to join our Logistics team at our World Headquarters in Monroe, Ohio. This position owns customs, import and export, and trade compliance for CSafe products moving across international borders, working through customs and regulatory issues to keep shipments compliant and moving efficiently. Key responsibilities span program compliance, classification, valuation, brokers and documentation, training, and cross-functional collaboration, as detailed below. This role reports to the Director of Logistics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business Administration or related field.
  • 3+ years’ experience as a Licensed Customs Broker (LCB)
  • Strong understanding of international shipping and import and export compliance
  • Working knowledge of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and classification methodology, with experience preparing or supporting binding ruling submissions to CBP or an equivalent authority
  • Familiarity with U.S. customs regulations (19 CFR) and CBP resources such as the Customs Rulings Online Search System (CROSS) and the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Superior analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills, with persistent attention to detail and ability to multi task
  • Proven ability to work cross functionally, negotiate effectively, and drive results with minimal supervision
  • Ability to collaborate cross functionally with Engineering, Procurement, Legal, Regulatory, and other internal teams to support classification and compliance decisions
  • Excellent team, communication, organizational, and presentation skills
  • Comfortable and experienced working in a dynamic and fast paced environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing or delivering trade compliance training programs a plus.
  • Experience in ocean freight, shipping container management or aviation related manufacturing a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day import and export compliance activities and documentation.
  • Review and validate commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, and customs templates for accuracy. Support internal and external customs audits including CBP Focused Assessments.
  • Perform HTS and Schedule B classification reviews; applying GRIs to resolve ambiguities, and monitor changes to applicable schedules and regulations. Maintain and audit the classification database, using ACE reporting to support classification audits.
  • Implement, maintain, and drive adoption of trade compliance policies covering valuation, classification, country of origin, trade agreements, and recordkeeping, aligned to CBP Informed Compliance standards.
  • Prepare and submit binding ruling requests to CBP and equivalent foreign authorities.
  • Support preferential trade program qualifications such as USMCA and monitor AD/CVD determinations.
  • Research and establish customs clearance processes for CSafe products entering new countries; partnering with Freight Forwarders, Customs Brokers and Customs officers to determine import requirements and build repeatable clearance procedures for new markets.
  • Monitor changes in global tariffs, trade agreements, and regulatory developments, and assess their impact on CSafe's import/export operations and cost structure.
  • Provide continuous training to departments subject to import and export compliance requirements and maintain related training materials.
