About The Position

Encorr Sheets, an affiliate of Schwarz Partners and a leader in the corrugated manufacturing industry, is seeking Shipping Loaders for its advanced facility in Ontario, CA. This role is crucial for ensuring that all units are properly banded with visible load tags, have no broken or missing straps, and are staged correctly for loading. The Shipping Loader will load and unload trailers safely and efficiently, perform visual quality inspections, and verify the accuracy of units, truck counts, paperwork, and carrier information. This position serves as the final visual quality check for all loaded and unloaded items and requires operating a sit-down propane forklift throughout the entire shift. Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent experience operating a sit-down propane forklift in a warehouse and/or shipping environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Must be able to read a tape measure.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, distance vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision.
  • Must be able to work as a team and have the ability to get along and have a good working relationship with other employees.
  • Comprehend instructions given by supervisors.
  • Take responsibility for communicating with other shift employees how the job is running, problems, adjustments, etc.
  • Follow all safety and company policies and procedures including maintaining good housekeeping, reporting any issues, accidents or incidents immediately.
  • Attendance must be exemplary at all times.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours and/or extended hours.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all units are properly banded and have clearly visible load tags.
  • Verify there are no broken or missing straps on units.
  • Stage units in the warehouse.
  • Load and unload trailers safely and efficiently.
  • Perform visual quality inspections on items.
  • Ensure units and truck counts are accurate.
  • Verify that units are on the correct trailer and with the correct carrier.
  • Ensure all paperwork is accurate.
  • Operate a sit-down propane forklift safely and effectively throughout the entire shift.
  • Take product off the out-feed line, stage it neatly on the floor, and load it neatly and securely in a trailer.
  • Scan all units to the trailer.
  • Follow proper procedures for staging units, loading units, and handling overruns.
  • Read and understand order instructions and load tags.
  • Understand unitizing and palletizing information and corrugator flutes for proper product loading per customer instructions.
  • Utilize basic math skills to determine trailer size and read a tape measure to maximize trailer capacity (MSF per truck).
  • Understand shipment planning and documentation, including the importance of only having one partial order per truck.
  • Organize the dock to prevent mixing units from small orders with large orders not being loaded.
  • Ensure all scrap is picked up and weighed.
  • Ensure particle units are banded.
  • Load scrap bales in proper trucks.
  • Raise and lower dock plates, safeguard with chains for dock doors, and report any damage.
  • Be proficient in using chocks, glad hand locks, and lockout procedures when straight trucks are used.
  • Follow all safety rules and perform forklift inspections.
  • Report any defects immediately.
  • Work as a team, get along with other employees, and maintain a good working relationship.
  • Comprehend instructions given by supervisors.
  • Communicate with other shift employees about job status, problems, and adjustments.
  • Follow all safety and company policies and procedures, including maintaining good housekeeping.
  • Report any issues, accidents, or incidents immediately.
  • Complete online safety training each month as assigned.
  • Handle forklifts responsibly and maintain them in good condition.
  • Maintain exemplary attendance.
  • Work flexible hours and/or extended hours.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
