About The Position

Encorr Sheets, an affiliate of Schwarz Partners and a leader in the corrugated manufacturing industry, is seeking Shipping Loaders for its advanced facility in Ontario, CA. In this role, you will ensure all units are properly banded with visible load tags, checking for any broken or missing straps. You will be responsible for staging units in the warehouse, safely and efficiently loading and unloading trailers. The position also includes performing visual quality inspections, verifying unit and truck counts, ensuring accuracy of paperwork, and confirming correct trailers and carriers. This role serves as the final visual quality check for all loaded and unloaded items and requires operating a sit-down propane forklift throughout the entire shift.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent experience operating a sit-down propane forklift in a warehouse and/or shipping environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Basic math skills and ability to read a tape measure.
  • Constant standing, talking, hearing, and walking.
  • Frequent stooping and bending, twisting, turning, maintaining balance.
  • Occasional kneeling and reaching over the shoulder; also required simple grasping, pushing and pulling.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, distance vision, depth perception and peripheral vision.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Operate a sit-down propane forklift safely and effectively.
  • Take product off the out-feed line, stage it neatly on the floor, and load it neatly and securely into a trailer.
  • Scan all units to trailer.
  • Follow proper procedures for staging units, loading units, and handling overruns.
  • Read and understand order instructions and load tags, including unitizing, palletizing information, and corrugator flutes for proper loading per customer instructions.
  • Perform basic math, determine trailer size, and read a tape measure to maximize trailer capacity (MSF per truck).
  • Understand shipment planning, documentation, and the importance of having only one partial order per truck.
  • Organize the dock to prevent mixing of small and large order units, ensure all scrap is picked up and weighed, band particle units, and load scrap bales in proper trucks.
  • Raise and lower dock plates, secure dock doors with chains, and report any damage.
  • Be proficient in using chocks, glad hand locks, and lockout procedures when straight trucks are used.
  • Follow all safety rules and perform forklift inspections, reporting any defects immediately.
  • Work as a team, fostering good working relationships with other employees.
  • Comprehend instructions given by supervisors.
  • Communicate with other shift employees about job status, problems, and adjustments.
  • Follow all safety and company policies and procedures, including maintaining good housekeeping, reporting issues, accidents, or incidents immediately, and completing monthly online safety training.
  • Handle forklifts responsibly and maintain their good condition.
  • Maintain exemplary attendance.
  • Work flexible and/or extended hours.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
