About The Position

This role is responsible for leading the shipping department to ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of customer orders. The Shipping Lead will coordinate with management to meet ship dates, develop and coach the shipping team, and ensure effective employee relations. This position involves providing leadership, technical guidance, and training to increase productivity, while also enforcing plant policies and monitoring key metrics. The Lead will verify orders, ensure correct shipment weights, determine shipping priorities, and manage inventory placement. Responsibilities also include conducting monthly inventory, supervising other shippers, assisting with order fulfillment, maintaining warehouse organization, and resolving inventory issues as needed.

Responsibilities

Coordinate with the Converting Manager and scheduling to meet customer committed ship dates.
Develop and coach the shipping department and ensure effective employee relations.
Provide leadership, technical guidance and training to employees in the facility to better increase work productivity.
Verify that outlined target deadlines, dates, and parameters are achieved.
Initiate clear communication within all levels of the organization.
Develop, approve, and monitor employee schedules within the Shipping Department.
Evaluate employees work levels and review work performance.
Enforce specific plant policies/procedures as required and take action in any disciplinary charges as needed.
Identify, monitor, and report on department specific and plant wide metrics.
Verify and check orders and compare to ballots.
Assure that the weight of the shipment is correct.
Determine shipping priorities and shipping methods required to meet schedules.
Place any orders that aren’t being shipped in the right place in inventory.
Conduct the monthly finished goods inventory.
Supervise and direct the tasks of other shippers on duty.
Assist in pulling orders together and releases in inventory.
Maintain organization within the warehouse.
May be responsible for resolving inventory issues.
Perform other duties as required.
