About The Position

Manchester Tank is seeking a Shipping Lead to champion McWane Way values and principles, driving them through the production team. This role involves interpreting blueprints and diagrams to identify parts for shipping, directing production activities to ensure efficient and safe production of conforming products, and operating equipment or assisting with production tasks as needed. The Shipping Lead will also train new employees, solve minor issues, and escalate larger problems to a supervisor. This position requires filling in for a supervisor when they are absent, rotating between multiple stations based on shipping, stockroom, and warehouse needs, monitoring workflow, identifying bottlenecks, and making adjustments to meet targets. The role also involves encouraging team member involvement in safety, environmental, and process improvement efforts, and adhering to all EHS guidelines and procedures, including Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and EHS Work Instructions. Reporting unsafe conditions or incidents promptly is crucial, as is shutting down the process if unsafe. Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality are expected.

Responsibilities

  • Champion McWane Way values and principles and drive the same through production team members.
  • Read, interpret, and follow basic blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately identify parts and tanks to ship.
  • Direct workers engaged in production activities to ensure the continuous production of conforming products in the most efficient and safe manner possible.
  • Operate equipment or assist with production tasks when needed to maintain throughput.
  • Utilize handheld tools such as handheld screw guns, drill guns, and grinders.
  • Operate nail guns, rivet guns, palm grinders, bonding tools and other measuring tools.
  • Train new employees and ensure the whole team follows processes, equipment, and safety procedures.
  • Answer questions, solve minor issues, and escalate bigger problems to a supervisor.
  • Fill in for supervisor when they are absent.
  • Rotate between multiple stations based on shipping, stockroom, and warehouse needs.
  • Monitor workflow, identify bottlenecks, and make quick adjustments to keep targets on track.
  • Looks for opportunities to get team members involved in safety, environmental, process changes, and overall improvement efforts.
  • Follow all EHS guidelines and applicable procedures.
  • Read, understand, and follow the Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and EHS Work Instructions.
  • Report any unsafe conditions or incidents in a timely manner to their supervisor or any member of management.
  • Shut down the process if unsafe.
