About The Position

The Shipping Lead oversees the Outbound team and ensures shipments are processed according to client and customer needs, within service-level agreement requirements and vendor compliance standards. The role involves leading and delegating shipping tasks, supporting employee training, coordinating labor planning with the Shipping Supervisor, and ensuring outbound products are properly labeled, consolidated, loaded, and shipped. The position is physically demanding and involves frequent lifting and moving of boxes weighing 20–50 pounds, wrapping pallets, and working in a warehouse environment.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of prior shipping experience.
• Experience with a warehouse management system (WMS).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize duties, follow through on assignments with minimal direction, and maintain attention to detail.
• Experience leading shipping personnel to ensure assigned activities are performed effectively and efficiently.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
• Trustworthy and moral character; pre-employment background and drug tests are used.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, walk and stand for extended periods, climb ladders or stairs, and tolerate dust, dirt, noise, odors, heat, and cold.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the training and cross-training of shipping employees.
• Lead and delegate shipping tasks while meeting SLA and vendor compliance requirements.
• Collaborate with the Shipping Supervisor to plan labor requirements based on forecasts and direction from the Client Services team.
• Ensure outbound products are loaded and shipped according to their assigned carriers.
• Ensure custom retailer carton labels are generated and applied in the correct position.
• Consolidate shipment requirements based on customer requests.
• Follow NRI safety rules, safety procedures, security protocols, and standard operating procedures.
• Keep work and storage areas safe, clean, and tidy.
• Perform other duties as requested.
