About The Position

Hood Container Corporation is seeking a Shipping Lead / Shipping Administrator to support our Shipping Department. This role is responsible for leading shipping personnel, coordinating the movement of finished product, supporting shipping priorities, completing required documentation, and ensuring accurate data entry in the operating systems. We are looking for someone with strong shipping, warehouse, or manufacturing experience who can lead a team, communicate effectively, manage priorities, and ensure freight is prepared, staged, loaded, and shipped accurately and on time. The ideal candidate must also be able to safely drive and operate a forklift as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in a Shipping, Manufacturing, or Warehouse environment required.
  • Ability to dispatch freight, route local deliveries, and support shipping priorities.
  • Must be able to safely drive and operate a forklift.
  • Ability to lead, coach, and support the shipping team to meet department objectives.
  • Ability to manage unloading, staging, placement, and movement of finished product.
  • Ability to track jobs through the manufacturing and shipping process.
  • Ability to differentiate product types and identify shortages or discrepancies.
  • Proficient in shipping functions, warehouse processes, forklift operation, and required warehouse equipment.
  • PC literate with the ability to complete data entry accurately and efficiently.
  • Speed and accuracy with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Customer Service, Production, Warehouse, and Management.
  • Must be able to work in temperature extremes from 40°F to 120°F inside the facility for several hours continuously.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to push and pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the shipping and warehouse areas as needed.
  • Must be able to safely operate a forklift in a manufacturing and warehouse environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience leading a successful team in a Shipping, Manufacturing, or Warehouse environment preferred.
  • Experience expediting in a manufacturing environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the shipping team to successfully move, stage, and load finished product to the correct destination.
  • Understand the production schedule and shipping priorities.
  • Update finished product locations in the operating system.
  • Track production status and communicate delays, damages, or shortages to Customer Service and Management.
  • Dispatch spotter and alert warehouse of freight in route.
  • Operate a forklift as needed to support shipping, staging, loading, unloading, and movement of finished product.
  • Complete all required shipping documentation, administrative paperwork, and data entry.
  • Perform data entry in Kiwi and other required systems.
  • Collect data and prepare reports, graphs, and other tracking documents as needed.
  • Support corrugator work-in-process tracking.
  • Confirm all shipping personnel are on time, ready to contribute, and have the proper equipment to complete tasks safely.
  • Schedule loading personnel to prepare shipments, stage freight to assigned areas, unload product, and meet ship dates.
  • Confirm counts against production tickets and identify shortages.
  • Ensure all work is scanned properly for tracking and inventory purposes.
  • Route and assign local deliveries, transfers, and pickups.
  • Lead and/or complete unitized inventory, cycle counts, and related reports; confirm results with the Shipping Manager.
  • Accurately interpret, compile, verify, and enter data into the computer system.
  • Analyze and verify data to ensure accuracy and integrity.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
