About The Position

Weyerhaeuser is currently recruiting for motivated team member(s) to fill the role of Shipping Forklift Operator for our lumber manufacturing facility located in Grifton, NC. This role is crucial for our high-performing, safety-driven culture. The operator will be responsible for safely operating and maintaining a gas forklift to unload, move, store, stage, and load materials. Additionally, the role involves maintaining the cleanliness of the assigned production area, performing safe start-ups and shut-downs of equipment, interpreting work instructions, accurately counting units, and communicating effectively with team members and leadership.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Able to work safely and follow all company policies and procedures
  • Resume detailing education and work history
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience operating forklifts and/or other mobile lift equipment
  • Ability to work within a team to resolve issues and complete tasks
  • Able to perform basic math and computer skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Must be flexible with work schedule and able to work any shift, weekends, overtime, holidays as needed
  • Able to perform all essentials job functions in an industrial environment, which may include lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing steps/ladders, working from heights, standing or walking for 2-3 hours at a time for 10 hours or more, working in extreme temperatures, dust, and noise while wearing all safety equipment
  • Successful completion of assessment process, background check and post-offer pre-employment drug screen and physical

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Forklift operator certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Total commitment to working safe and following all safety rules and regulations.
  • Safely operates and maintains a gas forklift to unload, move, store, stage, and load.
  • Responsible for housekeeping of assigned production area – cleaning, sweeping, and removing debris and lumber.
  • Safe start up and shut down of equipment in assigned area of responsibility.
  • Interprets work instructions and successfully completes tasks as delegated.
  • Accurately counts units, multiplies, adds, subtracts, and records totals.
  • Must demonstrate willingness and ability to learn new jobs and skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Communicating with team members and leadership to ensure consistent exchange of information relative to position.
