1st Shift - Shipping Forklift Driver - Class 2
About The Position
This role is for a 1st Shift Shipping Forklift Driver, starting at $18.69/hr (up to $21.14/hr). The principal responsibilities involve participating in shipping operations, inspecting parts for defects, making simple repairs, processing transactions, and slotting items for shipment. The position requires attention to detail to avoid shipping errors, safe operation of Powered Industrial Vehicles and pallet jacks, and operation of a stretch wrapper. The job also includes locating, scanning, obtaining, packing, bundling, or palletizing components, and loading trucks while ensuring product protection during transit. A strong emphasis is placed on safety consciousness, good housekeeping habits, meeting quality standards and production goals, and performing other tasks as needed for departmental success.
Requirements
- Two to three years of work experience.
- Knowledge of safe work practices.
- Ability to distinguish colors and species.
- Ability to read a tape measure and caliper.
- Math and computer skills.
- Ability to read/write/communicate in English.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Self-starter who works effectively without close supervision.
Nice To Haves
- One year of production experience or similar in carpentry or fast-paced, detail-oriented environment is preferred.
- High School diploma or GED preferred.
Responsibilities
- Inspect parts for defects (size, color, wood, scrap) and make simple repairs as needed.
- Process transactions and slot items in carts for shipment.
- Operate Powered Industrial Vehicles and pallet jacks safely and effectively.
- Operate a stretch wrapper.
- Locate, scan, obtain, and pack, bundle, or palletize components in a quality-conscious manner to protect from shipping damage.
- Load trucks in a manner to protect the product during transit.
- Maintain extreme safety consciousness and good housekeeping habits.
- Meet all quality standards and production goals.
- Perform any other tasks required for the success of the department.
