About The Position

The Forklift Driver is an employee in the shipping and receiving department and a member of the shipping and receiving team. This role is responsible for performing manual labor and forklift driving to process goods according to the highest standards of food quality. The employee is required to notify management of any issues regarding food safety and general safety awareness. The position requires the ability to work in a cold wet environment (36-36 °F) and may involve working overtime, weekends, and holidays. The role also includes training coworkers as needed and maintaining a clean work area.

Requirements

  • Forklift License required.
  • 5+ years of experience with order picking in a cooler.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work with fast-changing priorities and keep up with workflow.
  • Work in a team effort environment.
  • Able to follow simple instructions.
  • Demonstrate knowledge or experience loading and unloading perishable products.
  • Basic organization skills.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Constant walking, standing, bending neck, bending waist, squatting, climbing, twisting neck, twisting waist, both hands use (simple grasping, power grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling, reaching below and above shoulder level) for 8 or more hours daily.
  • Daily lifting and carrying requirements for 8 or more hours: 1-25 Lbs 7 feet high, 20 feet in distance.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Experience of work in a similar environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all Classic Salads Food Safety and GMP Policies.
  • Complete Classic Salads Standard Forklift Training Procedures.
  • Use proper lifting and folding boxes techniques occasionally.
  • Report all deficiencies to management.
  • Work overtime, weekends, and holidays if necessary.
  • Move product and/or materials manually as required.
  • Report all injuries and incidents big or small.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail.
  • Report any foreign objects while performing duties to immediate supervisor.
  • Communicate with management and/or other employees (Production supervisor, QA, etc).
  • Be conscious to reduce material spoilage.
  • Able to work in a cold wet environment 36-36 °F.
  • Work/cross-train in other areas as needed.
  • Fold boxes occasionally (1 lb to 3 lbs).
  • Lift bags occasionally (2 oz to 4 Lbs).
  • Stack boxes continuously (3 Lbs to 4 Lbs) 5-6 boxes high.
  • Keep work area clean.
  • Train coworkers as needed.
  • Lift finished product boxes continuously (3 lbs to 15 lbs).
  • Stay in assigned work area.
  • Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): bump cap, hearing protection, hair net, beard net, eye protection (goggles), face shield, gloves, slip-resistant shoes, wet/rain suit, apron, etc.
  • Be aware of surroundings due to forklift traffic.
  • Keep organic and conventional product separated in the warehouse.
  • Keep track of materials and finished product rotation FIFO (First in first out).
  • Complete all paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Verify case counts when fulfilling or receiving product orders.
  • Use basic math and organization skills daily.
  • Report dropped or damaged product immediately.
  • Scan pallets in or out of racks.
  • Replace broken pallets accordingly.
  • Follow adequate procedure to charge forklifts.
  • Keep finished and raw product in proper rotation in storage (racks, finished product room, raw room, etc).
  • Follow all OSHA requirements for lift trucks.
