This is a physical job description for a Shipping Department Clerk. The role requires standing and/or walking for 8 hours or more, with the ability to lift up to 85 lbs. Assistance is required for any items weighing over 85 lbs. The clerk must be able to load, push, and pull hand trucks, dollies, and pallet jacks with furniture parts up to 100 lbs, and finished product or materials up to 85 lbs into or out of the work area. Operation and driving of a forklift are also required. The position involves extended periods of upper body motion, requiring hand and eye coordination. Grasping with hands and fingers is necessary to operate electric/air hand tools weighing up to 20 lbs and for pulling material. The clerk must tolerate wood dust and wear safety glasses. The work environment can involve moderate cold/heat as the production plant is not centrally heated or cooled. Twisting, stooping, and bending are also required.
