About The Position
This role will support both our customer service and warehouse teams and will be an integral part of our shipping staff. Under the direction of the Shipping Manager, this position coordinates all outbound shipping for LTL, Freight and non-LTL orders in order to meet customer delivery requirements.
Requirements
- Strong, general computer skills and ability to work with vendors online and use their custom shipping software.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Excellent customer service and verbal communication skills.
- Education generally equivalent to a high school diploma.
- Experience working in a warehouse and/or shipping environment.
- Self-driven, high energy person with excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to multitask and work well under pressure.
Responsibilities
- Schedule shipments and manage the outbound shipping schedule.
- Work with carrier partners and internal team members to understand urgency of the freight, resolve issues and ensure top tier service and performance.
- Seek out rate quotes with shipping vendors and logistics companies to procure the best service and price possible.
- Maintain and update all shipping records.
- Prepare documents, such as bills of lading, and shipping orders to route materials.
- Collaborate with Customer Service team and supervisors to ensure coordination of special shipments and rush orders.
- Contact common carriers and schedule pick-ups, ensuring the meeting of customer delivery requirements.
- Track inventory and report any shortages to Customer Service for further disposition.
- Complete shippers’ declared HAZ-MAT paperwork on line.
- Complete and maintain all required paperwork, shipping documents and labels corresponding to shipping needs.
- Document and handle claim process for product damaged during shipping. Track and report on all shipping claims.
- Notify customers when product is ready and assist with tracking their shipments, and/or when they pick up orders.
- Assist truck drivers with their required paperwork.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area and update supplies as needed.
- All other assigned duties directed by the Shipping Manager.
