About The Position
As a Shipping Coordinator, you will be an important part of the Steel Technologies team and critical to meeting our customer demands. You’re more than a shipping coordinator; you’re ensuring the materials are all correct before they arrive at the customer's. Ultimately, you play an important role at Steel Technologies.
Requirements
- Knowledge of raw materials and shipping/receiving processes
- Knowledge of and ability to comply with safety rules and requirements
- Knowledge of basic computer functions and ability to accurately input data into Invex system
- Knowledge of basic arithmetic
- Ability to read and understand material tags and production instructions
- Ability to accurately use tape measures, micrometers, and calipers
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to routinely bend and squat
- Ability to sit and stand for prolonged periods of time
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
Responsibilities
- Examine shipment contents and compare with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy
- Ensure complete shipments, oldest items first
- Check and match tags to bills before bills are signed
- Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, damages, or discrepancies, for reporting, accounting, or recordkeeping purposes
- Prepare documents, such as work orders, bills of lading, or shipping orders, to route materials
- Operate forklift and/or overhead crane to transport material
- Communicate with sales, customers, truck drivers, and supervisor to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, late delivery, or nonconformance to specifications
- Assist scale operator when needed
- Clean and maintain housekeeping of shipping office
