About The Position

The Ideal Tridon Group is seeking a Shipping Clerk on 2nd shift for their Smyrna TN plant. This role is responsible for providing service to the manufacturing operation regarding shipping of products to ensure quality of service and internal customer delivery expectations. The Shipping Clerk will coordinate tasks, prepare, handle, organize, load, and unload skids or packaged orders. They will verify paperwork, secure loads, and ensure material handling is done according to instructions. The position requires observing safety and operational procedures, maintaining paperwork and logs, and possessing decision-making abilities with communication to management. A sense of urgency, efficiency, safety compliance, and quality are paramount. The role involves making recommendations for improvements, maintaining a positive team environment, and requires strong interpersonal and professional communication skills. The Shipping Clerk may need assistance from coworkers for heavier items (up to 1500 lbs) and the job may require overtime, flexible scheduling, reporting early, working late, and occasional weekends.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2 to 3 years of related inventory and shipping experience or equivalent.
  • Recent experience in inventory control, cycle counting, and researching root cause and making recommendations on how to solve and eliminate inventory errors desired.
  • Must be able to multitask and possess decision making skills for prioritizing of the workload.
  • Candidate must also be able to work from an elevated platform wearing designated safety equipment. Heights will vary but will not exceed 25’.

  • Must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation as you will frequently and repetitively be required to bend, twist, kneel, crouch, and reach to perform work, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk and hear.

  • Training in operating forklift, carts and handtruck is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Providing service to the manufacturing operation regarding shipping of products to ensure quality of service and internal customer delivery expectations consistent with company policy and performance standards.
  • Coordinating the tasks of team members to execute the functions of shipping/warehousing by performing a combination of duties associated with manually preparing, handling, organizing, loading, and unloading of skids or packaged orders to be received and stocked.
  • Verifying paperwork including quantities and dimensions, and weights.
  • Securing loads, distributing, and assuring that material handling is being done accordingly to the necessary documentation or instruction including but not limited to work order, shop prints, verbal instructions or other form of instruction.
  • Observing all safety and operational procedures, including maintaining all required paperwork, safety logs, preventive maintenance logs and checklists to meet quality and delivery expectations.
  • Choosing an alternative course of action when necessary, always maintaining communication with Operations Manager and/or Operations Supervisor for further approval.
  • Making recommendations to Operations Management for changes to working conditions and methods to improve efficiency while ensuring employee safety.
  • Maintaining a positive team environment within the work group.
  • Coordinating and sending shipments, including checking accuracy, quality issues, packing goods, populating paperwork, ensuring all required paperwork is provided, and scheduling pickup of shipments.
  • Generating required labels for each shipped part or material, ensuring all required information is included.
  • Reviewing and assisting the receiving clerk with receiving paperwork to check shipment accuracy.
  • Coordinating the staging and loading of inbound and outbound shipments, taking pictures when necessary.
  • Working with other departments when detecting quality issues on shipments and coordinating actions accordingly and as per procedure, completing proper documentation.
  • Utilizing UPS and FedEx shipping software to send small package and LTL shipments to customer locations as requested.
  • Operating a variety of machines and equipment including but not limited to forklift, standing stock picker, cart, hand trucks as well as the ability to cover other positions when needed.
  • Performing activities for training new employees and corrective action procedures with department employees.
  • Coordinating and overseeing activities to comply with 5’ S, safety, and other related company policies.
  • Reporting and documenting injury or other safety-related incidents according to company policy.
  • Keeping communication lines open between Management and workers.
  • Performing additional duties not specifically described herein.

  • Hourly Rate: $21.00 + $1.00 Shift Differential for 2nd Shift
