About The Position

RJW Logistics Group is seeking a Shipping Clerk Lead for their 2nd shift. This role reports to the Warehouse Supervisor and involves effectively and efficiently managing warehouse operations, including verifying received materials, scheduling shipping and freight operations, developing a working knowledge of warehouse organization, and creating detailed shipping documentation. The position also involves leading the warehouse team to ensure customer satisfaction by accepting and scheduling customer orders. This role provides essential shipping support to the Warehouse Department.

Requirements

  • Basic office clerical skills.
  • Must be able to type at least 40 wpm.
  • 2 years of clerical experience.
  • Basic transportation, logistics and shipping experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate, read, write, and speak English.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to determine “root cause” of problem and determine corrective action.
  • Knowledge of Business Operating Systems, Internet software, Word Processing, and Spreadsheet software.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the check-in of all drivers.
  • Prepare bills of lading; check items to be shipped against work orders to ascertain that quantities, destination, and routing are correct.
  • Receive and unload incoming materials and compare information on packing slip with purchase order to verify accuracy of shipment; may process return shipments from customers.
  • Sort, count, package, label, ensure, unpack, and/or log inventory which is shipped or received.
  • Print all pertinent paperwork for shipping.
  • Ensure that shipping clerks coordinate with the dock and drivers regarding loading doors.
  • Coordinate with carriers that have drop trailers, informing them of trailer number, seal number, and paperwork procedure.
  • Ensure all paperwork is properly signed by the pickup driver.
  • Close loads in the system.
  • Trace lost shipments and/or customer claims of lost shipments; initiate proof of delivery documents.
  • Coordinate with Customer Service Teams regarding special paperwork for certain orders (e.g., international, customers preferring special BOLs).
  • Enter customer orders and scan/index documents as required.
  • Clearly understand goals, policies, and procedures of RJW.
  • Communicate customer problems, leads, and inquiries to the appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain confidentiality of company information.
  • Recommend improvements and implement approved improvements.
  • Update reports as required by operations manager and COO.
  • Other tasks as assigned by manager.
