About The Position

Dometic Marine is seeking a Shipping Clerk for its Sparta, Tennessee facility, which produces roto-molded fuel and ballast tanks, other industrial roto-molded products, marine furniture, aluminum tanks, blow-molded portable tanks, and sanitation systems. The Shipping Clerk processes shipments and verifies that packing slips are correct. The role uses internet-based tools to create bills of lading, calculate freight charges, select carriers, post shipments, obtain shipping instructions, and communicate with carriers and logistics companies by phone and email. The position also uses Mapics to create shipments and check inventory, and may include other duties as requested. The position reports to the Warehouse Supervisor and is based in Sparta, TN.

Requirements

• Previous warehouse, shipping, receiving, or logistics experience.
• Ability to accurately prepare shipping documents, labels, and packing slips.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the shift as needed.
• Basic math skills for counting inventory and verifying shipments.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Dependability and a strong work ethic.
• Critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
• A self-starter attitude and willingness to take initiative.
• A relevant combination of education and experience may be considered.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with ERP systems, inventory management software, or Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Process shipments and confirm packing slips are correct.
• Use internet tools to complete shipping paperwork and set up shipments with carriers.
• Calculate freight charges and select carriers.
• Use phone, email, and internet to post shipments, obtain shipping instructions, and communicate with carriers and logistics companies.
• Use Mapics to create shipments and check inventory.
• Classify freight.
• Create or obtain bills of lading and commercial invoices.
• Communicate with carriers, customers, and vendors.
• Perform other duties as requested.
