About The Position

This position reports to the Shipping Group Leader, Supervisor and Manager and is responsible for completion of daily shipments and loading / unloading trucks. This is an entry-level position. Based on company needs, a flexible work schedule and/or overtime is needed. The employee is responsible for cleaning the department and keeping everything in precise order. The employee must have a basic understanding and compliance to Batesville Tool & Die (BTD) Standards and Principles. The employee must be resourceful and have the ability to work with little or no supervision.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in shipping or driving a forklift a plus but not required.
  • Must be able to work with little or no supervision.
  • Must have a basic understanding and compliance to Batesville Tool & Die (BTD) Standards and Principles.
  • Must be responsible for cleaning the department and keeping everything in precise order.
  • Must be able to work a flexible work schedule and/or overtime as needed.
  • Must be conscientious in being at work when scheduled and on time.
  • Must perform the highest possible amount of quality work in the least or standard amount of time.
  • Must follow documented processes and procedures.
  • Must do good quality work the first time, avoiding rework.
  • Must make good quality decisions as it relates to the job functions.

  • Must be knowledgeable of and adhere to all safety rules and regulations.
  • Must always be conscious of the safety implications of one's actions; consistently observe safety regulations and wear required safety equipment.

  • Must wear appropriate Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) in all designated areas assigned by the company.
  • Must immediately report all near misses, safety concerns and accidents.
  • Must safely and efficiently use any assigned equipment.
  • Must comply with and support any environmental policies and programs put in place by BTD.
  • Must not bring any environmentally hazardous substances or compounds into BTD and is always conscious of the impact on the environment.
  • Must support and adhere to Technical Specification (TS) and International Organization for Standardization (ISO) activities and procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • General Educational Diploma (GED) or High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma preferred.
  • Tow motor experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately performs Yearend inventory.
  • Precisely performs weight counting.
  • Competently packages & labels all repacks.
  • Efficiently loads, & unloads OSS(Outside Service Supplier) parts.
  • Accurately loads/unloads & verification of customer freight.
  • Effectively uses computer/scanner functions related to shipping.
  • Correctly stores & removes parts in manifest with rack picker 25ft maximum height.
  • Accurately scans customer parts for shipment to ensure exact counts are shipped.
  • Efficiently operates forklift / rack motors and maintains check sheets.
  • Accurately fills out blank shippers and freight.
  • Participate in and support lean manufacturing programs and principles with a focus to reduce costs with quality product such as Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Suggestion System, etc.
  • Actively participate in Continuous Improvement to continually strive to improve our processes and procedures.
  • Adhere to 5S: Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain.
  • Employee is responsible for complying and supporting any environmental policies and programs put in place by BTD.
  • Employee may not bring any environmentally hazardous substances or compounds into BTD and is always conscious of the impact on the environment.
  • Support and adhere to Technical Specification (TS) and International Organization for Standardization (ISO) activities and procedures.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned with enthusiasm and without complaint.
