About The Position

The Shipping Associate is responsible for picking, preparing, and shipping outgoing freight on time, in full, and error-free, while working in a team environment. They must also be able to bend, reach, push, pull, and carry up to 51 pounds. Computer skills are necessary and warehousing experience is preferred.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Computer experience preferred
  • Experience in shipping, receiving, and/or a warehousing environment
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one-or two-step instructions.
  • Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
  • Basic personal computer skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, works with the fingers, and perceives attributes of objects and materials.
  • Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less).
  • Color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors).

Nice To Haves

  • Warehousing experience is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Retrieve products from the specified lines per the order pick list.
  • Palletize the items to be prepared for shipment, may require the use of additional tools such as a crimper.
  • Double check prepared orders by reviewing the pick list and items stacked on pallets.
  • Band pick list selected items to pallets.
  • Prepare shipping documents for pick up by the carrier specified by the customer’s purchase order which is conveyed to the shipping clerk by the final inspection via the shipping instructions.
  • Email, fax, and call truck lines as needed for outbound shipments.
  • Prepares shipments for UPS, by creating and printing labels, weighing packages, and completing any other related tasks to this operation.
  • Operates fork truck and hand pallet jack as necessary.
  • Works effectively in a team environment and participates in team meetings and projects.
  • Operate according to ISO 9001 requirements.
  • Follow safety guidelines, maintain a clean and organized work area and use good safety judgement.
  • Report all unsafe activities and conditions to Supervisors and/or Safety & Occupational Health Specialist.
