About The Position

Weyerhaeuser is seeking a Shipping and Scheduling Manager for the Natchitoches Engineered Wood Products manufacturing facility located in Natchitoches, LA. The Shipping and Scheduling Manager will develop and execute the detailed production scheduling at the facility as well as the coordination, delivery, and inventory of raw materials. This individual will lead the Shipping Department in achieving safety, quality, and shipping goals. This individual is responsible for safely planning, coordinating, and maintaining operational schedules. This position reports to the Mill Manager and is a member of the Leadership Team.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a supervisory and/or key leadership role
  • Work related experience in leading and ensuring compliance with safety initiatives
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, written, verbal and electronic communication skills
  • Strong planning, scheduling, and organizational skills
  • Intermediate knowledge of production systems
  • Experience in basic care maintenance
  • Demonstrated ability to raise performance by building and maintaining positive relationships with all associates through coaching, development and instilling a continuous improvement mind-set
  • Demonstrated results in achieving and sustaining business goals.
  • Working knowledge of business and financial concepts.
  • Hands-on experience working with optimizing systems.
  • Must be detail- and accuracy-oriented.
  • Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment wearing PPE.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily leadership and oversight of hourly Shipping employees
  • Ensure the safe and efficient execution of work
  • Ensure proper job and safety rules are understood and followed by team
  • Role model safe work practices and lead safety and other team meetings
  • Ensure appropriate incident investigation and follow-up resolution
  • Project needs and balance labor resources to ensure continuous improvement in safety, quality, and production
  • Onboard and train new team members
  • Actively involved in assigning work
  • Performance Management-support, coach, and provide timely feedback and direction to employees
  • Encourage innovation
  • Support retention and recognition initiatives
  • Understand the process flow and provide solutions to issues
  • Coordinate activities with Maintenance team and proactively collaborate to address concerns
  • Customer focus to ensure orders are produced and shipped on time, on budget, and meeting specifications
  • Strong knowledge of products, coatings, and machine operations to efficiently plan product runs
  • Frequent review of inventory and production to ensure accuracy and resolve issues
  • Develop and maintain rework priorities for order completion
  • Proficient in use of computer software programs used for scheduling and reporting
  • Respond quickly to changing customer requests, machine production issues, quality issues, and transportation issues
  • Timely communication with customer service on issues
  • Must communicate and work well with operators, shippers, engineers, product development, truck lines, etc.
  • Creates manual production orders per replenishment signals for full unit cuts
  • Provide leadership in work scheduling, order release, schedule revisions, lead team meetings
  • Execute implementation and development activity of longer-term Shipping process refinements
  • Contribute to the budgeting process and accountable for overtime management
  • Demonstrate skills in the leadership competencies of character & capability, communication & collaboration, and inspiring teams to get results
