About The Position

The Shipping and Receiving position is responsible for the cheese shipping/receiving area and requires the loading/unloading trucks, inventory, and customer/hauler communication. Accurately load finished product following plant policy to ensure product integrity, including bulk loadouts. Assist the Management in coordinating the production scheduling with the production staff to meet the needs of customer orders. Maintain inventory of supplies including but not limited to pallets, corrugate, salt, culture, secondary starter, and NFDM in order to meet the production schedule. Assist the Management to ensure that the product is packaged and labeled correctly. Accurately complete all necessary paperwork and submit to the office in a timely fashion. Assist with month-end inventories. Unload ingredients and supplies following plant policy (pre-unloading checklist, etc.) to ensure correct amounts and their integrity. Put ingredients and supplies away following First- In-First-Out (FIFO) where applicable. Appropriately and consistently utilize truck/tractor and forklift inspection forms. Monitor and maintain trailers and reefers while reporting any concerns to Maintenance. Maintain and operate forklifts in a safe manner. Assist in coordinating cooler organization and maintaining the cooler in good condition. Assist in creating a safe working environment as well as attending safety meetings Ensure warehouse is kept clean and organized. Complete cleaning in accordance with MSS and plant walkthroughs for the Shipping and Receiving Department or as assigned by management Scale in/out trucks as needed. Operation of the Automatic Storage and Retrieval System. Effectively utilize applications in the shipping and receiving department. Understand and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices. Safety Protocol Stop any observed unsafe acts and obey facility safety rules and procedures. Correct or report any observed safety hazards. Support safety policies and programs. This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum one (1) year of shipping and receiving experience preferred.
  • Warehouse and forklift experience, preferred.
  • Forklift certification. (in-house training and certification provided)
  • Demonstrate attention to detail, quality and cleanliness in work.
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational skills, establish priorities, ability to multitask, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to solve problems by adapting knowledge and experience.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively at all levels in a collaborative team environment.
  • English comprehension; verbal and written
  • Basic math plus fractions, decimals and percentages.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision, adapt to a changing environment quickly, and think independently.
  • Ability to follow written, verbal and diagrammatic instructions; complete simple checklists and complete required documentation.
  • Basic computer operational skills; able to input and retrieve computerized information.
  • Exhibit a professional manner in dealing with others and work to maintain constructive working relationships.
