About The Position

This role supervises and coordinates the activities of workers engaged in verifying and keeping records on incoming and outgoing shipments, and preparing items for shipment. The supervisor studies shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or a minimum of three (3) years related experience and /or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must wear cut gloves on both hands when using anything sharp.
  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • Ability to frequently lift and /or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
  • Experience with hi-lo driving (implied by backup duties).

Responsibilities

  • Supervises shipping personnel and ensures conformance to policy and procedures.
  • Manages shipping procedures, including load sheets, pick lists, staging, and auditing.
  • Schedules vacations, overtime, and training for the shipping team.
  • Communicates with Customer Service and Production Scheduling as required.
  • Conducts daily checks of the warehouse for organization and cleanliness.
  • Organizes and identifies finished goods.
  • Organizes the warehousing and coordinates the traffic flow between the warehouse, production, and shipping.
  • Verifies inventories as needed and communicates discrepancies.
  • Acts as a backup for shipping/receiving personnel and assists with shipping functions that do not require hi-lo driving.
  • Participates in physical inventories.
  • Acts as a backup for the shipping clerk.
  • Ensures CTPAT procedure is followed.
  • Ensures Dock Lock Procedure is followed.
  • Ensures Key Surrender Board Procedure is being followed.
  • Responsible for off-site warehouse(s).
  • Responsible for transportation to all service locations.
  • Ensures all returnable areas are kept clean and organized.
  • Performs daily safety walk-throughs.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws, including training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
  • Cooperates with action team directives as a CFT Team Member, Safety Team Member, and 5S Team Member.
  • Maintains familiarity with evacuation plans and trained in clean-up modules.
  • Keeps all areas of the warehouse and docks clean, organized, and clear of debris and resin.
  • Maintains the “shipping board”.
  • Performs other duties as required for the safe, efficient operation of the plant.
