Shipping and Receiving Supervisor
About The Position
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Shipping & Receiving Supervisor to oversee the efficient operation of our distribution center’s shipping and receiving functions. This role is vital in ensuring timely, accurate, and safe handling of materials, inventory, and shipments. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive warehouse management experience, and a comprehensive understanding of logistics processes. Your leadership will directly contribute to maintaining high standards of safety, productivity, and customer satisfaction within our warehouse environment.
Requirements
- Proven experience in warehouse distribution, shipping & receiving supervision, or warehouse management roles.
- Strong knowledge of inventory control systems, warehouse management systems (WMS), and inventory management best practices.
- Hands-on experience operating material handling equipment such as forklifts and RF scanners.
- Familiarity with logistics processes including 3PL coordination and e-commerce fulfillment.
- Mechanical knowledge related to warehouse equipment maintenance is a plus.
- Excellent managerial communication skills with the ability to lead teams effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to implement process improvements using lean management principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) for reporting purposes.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards applicable to warehouse environments.
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and manual material handling tasks safely.
- Prior experience as a warehouse supervisor or in warehouse operations is highly desirable.
Responsibilities
- Supervise daily shipping and receiving activities, ensuring compliance with company policies and safety regulations.
- Coordinate with warehouse staff to ensure accurate inventory control, proper materials handling, and timely processing of shipments.
- Oversee the operation of forklifts, RF scanners, and other material handling equipment to facilitate efficient warehouse movement.
- Implement process improvements using lean management principles to optimize warehouse operations and reduce waste.
- Manage inventory management systems such as AS400 or Warehouse Management System (WMS) platforms for real-time tracking and reporting.
- Ensure adherence to OSHA standards and promote a safe working environment for all team members.
- Lead team management efforts including training, scheduling, performance evaluations, and fostering a collaborative team culture.
- Oversee logistics coordination with third-party logistics providers (3PL) and e-commerce fulfillment channels.
- Maintain accurate records of shipments, receipts, and inventory levels; utilize Microsoft Office tools for reporting and documentation.
- Support the integration of new technologies or procedures to enhance operational efficiency within distribution center operations.
