About The Position

The Shipping and Receiving Manager will have oversight of all regional Shipping and Receiving operations for the COE, to include the stand-alone Warehouse if applicable. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing all Shipping and Receiving strategy, including efficient material flow, storage, and material organization between all sites. The position requires time split between DeForest and Columbus, WI.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of direct Shipping and Receiving experience within an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a leadership role.
  • AS400 experience.
  • Strong communication skills (technical information, internal/external customers, all levels of employees).

Responsibilities

  • Planning, directing, coordinating, and managing warehouse and transportation operations within regional facilities to ensure accurate and timely incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Oversight of all employees in the Shipping and Receiving Department, including training, performance appraisal, rewarding/disciplining, and problem resolution.
  • Managing inbound and outbound transportation traffic for timely, cost-effective deliveries and improved customer responsiveness.
  • Evaluating Shipping/Receiving manning needs across the region and assessing employees in training phases.
  • Facilitating customer returns, customer complaint resolution, and timely handling of rework or material destruction.
  • Conducting monthly safety/business meetings with the Shipping/Receiving Department across all facilities.
  • Ensuring efficiency, enhanced performance, and accuracy of Finished Goods, Raw material, and WIP inventory.
  • Conducting monthly cycle counts and participating in the Annual physical inventory.
  • Managing and monitoring Fork truck and transfer truck maintenance and repair, and making recommendations for future asset requirements.
  • Processing payroll information for the Shipping/Receiving Department.
  • Conducting OSHA approved forklift/scissors lift training.
  • Monitoring freight claims and complaints with transportation contractors for timely processing.
  • Overseeing the recycling of materials in the facilities.
  • Supervising and managing material handling personnel and activities across the region to maintain a smooth flow of materials between plants.
  • Maintaining an organized warehouse and working closely with vendors to meet facility needs.
  • Working with teams to execute projects for new business goals and advance continuous improvement of processes and procedures.
  • Ensuring implementation of SOPs through indirect reports to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, rules, and industry best practices.
  • Serving as the subject matter expert (SME)/advisor.
  • Demonstrating effective communication and developing working relationships with Leadership, front line supervision, and key outside stakeholders.
  • Supporting and interfacing with transportation carriers and contractors for inbound and outbound transportation of freight.
  • Facilitating transportation for any emergency shipments.
  • Tracking Shipping costs from major transportation contractors.
  • Setting goals for costs and participating in quarterly meetings to report status and recommend improvements.
  • Preparing and conducting all S/R employee performance evaluations.
  • Developing, monitoring, and actualizing employee development goals.
  • Making recommendations for training.
  • Consistently finding ways to add new value and mitigate risk by improving the flow of product across the business.
