About The Position

Supervise the activities of the Shipping/Receiving associates to achieve optimal levels of productivity, quality, and safety to assure internal and external customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Familiar with Just-In-Time concepts and inventory control procedures.
  • Computer literate.
  • Hi-lo experience
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to supervisors and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to do simple math; addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Also, the ability to add positive and negative numbers
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • Frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to sit and talk or hear.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 45 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to adjust focus.
  • Employee will frequently be required to operate a lift truck or to operate other equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direction to material handlers in shipping/receiving to ensure drivers have stable work-loads and effective shift to shift communication
  • Notify customers of late, missed or short shipments
  • Assure production requirements are shipped to the customer as released to ensure 100% on time delivery requirements
  • Review dock to ensure it is clean and organized daily
  • Provide direction to manufacturing material handlers when needed to determine where finished product should be stored to help ensure proper finished goods organization
  • Communicate with Warehouse Supervisor, Mat’ls Mgr., Manufacturing Mgr, Supervisors, material handlers, and QA to ensure parts are shipped as needed to support customer’s needs.
  • Support material handlers as needed to help cover for vacations and absenteeism. May also need to step in if dock falls behind.
  • Prepare parts, paperwork, and set up special shipments for engineering
  • Prepare daily pick sheets for shipping and then print and distribute shippers when picks are complete, as needed.
  • On call 24 hours for customer expedites
  • Proactively support all USF departments and the customer during new product launches and engineering changes.
  • Complete cycle counts on finished goods, components, containers, and packaging as needed
  • Assist in all physical inventories taken in the plant.
  • Assist in tracking returnable containers.
  • Responsible for following all internal and OSHA required safety procedures
  • Adherence to all company policies and procedures (ie, Quality Manual, Associate Handbook, etc)
  • Support plant activities toward achieving customer awards and Quality registration (ie, TS16949, etc.)
  • Perform all other duties as requested by the Warehouse Supervisor.
